With the Playstation Vita being released in February, it’s only fair that we’re given some fantastic launch titles to go with it! Unit 13 is one of those titles and with it being designed solely for the Playstation Vita by utilizing the built in Wifi for 2 player co-op and the spiffy 2 sided touch screen for innovative use, you can pretty much guarantee that there won’t be another game like it when its big release date rolls around!
Of course with Sony diving headfirst into the shooter market with Unit 13, they are pretty much exploiting their rivals Nintendo and Apple’s weakness for neglecting what is such a popular genre – it also helps that it has two analog sticks for what definitely becomes a much better gameplay!
Spread out over 36 action packed and adrenaline fuelled missions, Unit 13 seems to be primarily based on racking up high scores throughout your campaign to compete with friends and send daily challenges. You will be able to choose from one of six operatives that have specific signature combat perks, such as marksman or technician – making sure that there is something to please every player!
Upon previewing the game, I can’t really help but feel that it has a slight air of Metal Gear Solid about it. Set in third person mode, you will find yourself powering through the missions using both stealth tactics and all-out fun filled firefighting. Of course the game probably won’t come with the compelling Metal Gear type of story, but as far as launch titles go, it has to be one of the best! We can only wait to see just what kind of story they will unfold for us!
