Fans of the whacky racing of Mario Kart rejoice as Winter will see the long awaited release of the 7th in the series for none other than the Nintendo3DS! With a whopping sixteen new race tracks to choose from as well some of the good old classic tracks, fans of the franchise are in for a treat! Players will be given the opportunity to customize their karts, allowing them to determine how the kart handles whilst racing and even use attachments such as the hang glider to soar through the air after zooming high speed up a ramp! Of course there will also be a purpose to the use of the hang glider, such as new routes, coins and specific weapons which if discovered will make your races a breeze.
Unlike other Mario Karts in the series, this game will let racers drive underwater, ultimately letting you the player find new shortcuts to finish the race first. As expected the game will have a fresh set of never seen before weapons to pick up, but what is really unique is the fact that you will be able to switch to first person view mode and use your gyro to navigate around the tracks – though I understand first person view isn’t for everybody, it does add a certain element of realism to the game!
What makes games such as Mario Kart so successful is their incredibly fun multiplayer system. So expect online playability from Mario Kart 7 with fantastic 3D visuals and a smooth frame rate.
Mario Kart 7 will feature the entire original cast of characters such as Wario, Toad, Luigi and of course everyone’s favourite plumber Mario. However you will also be able to play as Birdo the cute little dinosaur from Mario Bros. 2 and even one of those pesky skeleton koopas from Super Mario Bros. 3!
