If you enjoy whipping out the old PSP and gaming away whilst you are out then you’re going to love this! Sony are releasing what is called the Playstation Vita which is essentially a Playstation 3 in the palm of your hands! That’s right, next generation gaming has gone handheld and PSVita is sure to lead the way!
So I’m sure you are curious as to what will set it apart from the PSP right? Aside from the use of dual analog sticks, a very impressive 5 inch OLED screen, a microphone and new and improved WiFi, there will also be a motion sensor, front and rear high quality cameras and a front multitouch screen as well as a rear multitouch pad.
Unlike the PSP which had a very limited selection of “good games”, the Playstation Vita will have everyone’s favourite franchises such as Call of Duty, Little Big Planet and Uncharted. Not to mention the fact that the Playstation Vita will be backwards compatible so you’ll be able to play all of the PSP’s finest games such Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core and Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops. Just like the PS3, you will collect trophies which you can then use to prove to the world how insanely awesome you are for completing Call of Duty on veteran mode etc.
You will also be able to access the Playstation Marketplace through its wireless internet connection and buy the latest in games, movies, gaming add-ons and even comics. You will also be able to use the internet to connect with friends, share photos and other awesome things.
So when does this magnificent handheld console come out? Well it’s not exactly official but it is said that the Playstation Vita is due to be released February 22nd 2012. Of course this date is susceptible to change at the moment but one thing we do know is that it will be released in Japan before it hits our shelves in the U.K! Pre-order yourself a copy today and make sure you have your PSVita as soon as it’s released!
