Windows 8 Beta UK Release Date

7. December 2011

Over the years we’ve seen the Windows operating systems evolve at a steady yet impressive pace. Well get ready to be blown away by the new jaw dropping Windows 8 operating system that plans to be a complete transformation from what we have grown used to. At first glance you can easily see the similarity between Windows 8 screenshots of the new start menu and the new and improved Microsoft Xbox 360 dashboard;

 Of course Microsoft also intend to once again revise the file management system that we’re constantly using. In an effort to make things easier, they intend to highlight the more commonly used commands and group them accordingly. They also intend to implement something known as a “share menu”, which as you have probably guessed, is another way for you tweet, e-mail and share images no matter what app you may be using.

Ah yes, apps. As you probably know, Microsoft have now managed to get their foot in the door when it comes to apps. App management seems to predominantly take place at the new start menu where you will be able to position them as you please, re-size them and uninstall them when necessary.

Strangely enough, even the ever so reliable password system has been updated and seems to have adopted the android way of doing things. Instead of typing in your password and hitting enter, you will be given an option to assign a secret combination of taps and swipes to a specific picture of your choice.

So the question you are dying to ask is when is the beta out? Well I can confirm that Microsoft have announced the beta for Windows 8 to be available from late February 2012. As for the official Windows 8 release, well only time will tell with that one!

Xbox 360 New Dashboard 2011 UK Release Date

2. October 2011

Recent Paypal leaks have given us a promising release date for the new Xbox 360 Dashboard! If the information is correct then we could be downloading our brand spanking new dashboards from November 15th 2011! This precious information was spilled by a Paypal e-mail to all of its employees giving away this release date.

Avid fans of the Xbox will no doubt recognize the date as the tenth anniversary of the original Xbox! It’s also the exact same day that Halo: Combat Evolved will get released. So it would seem likely that this potential release date is in fact more than just speculation!

So what can we expect from the new Xbox 360 Dashboard? Well it’ll be a totally new look to what we’re used to. Everything will be arranged to make things simpler for both die hard and casual gamers out there. Expect everything to be arranged in titles and snazzy looking panels, along with voice control for those blessed with a Kinect. Bing, new arcade games, Xbox Live TV, Skype and cloud storage is just taste of what’s to come!

Of course not everyone will be receptive to the new layouts, but with things made simpler and a few extra features, it’s sure to be a hit with most! It’s basically transformed the original dashboard which was primarily all about gaming, to what appears to look like they have consolidated all entertainment into one! In fact ‘Games’ is just one of the many category titles found at the top. It’s also joined by ‘social’, ’video’, ’music’ and ‘apps’.

By far the greatest addition to the new Xbox 360 dashboard is going to be the voice control. You can literally say the name of a movie and boom it’ll appear right before you as if by magic! We’re certainly stepping into the future and benefiting from the wondrous technology that’s available. I for one can’t wait for the new Dashboard and I’m sure you can’t either!

Google Chrome OS Release Date UK

2. November 2010

Rumours have been flying around since the summer that Google will be releasing a netbook with the new Google Chrome operating system and the latest word on the grapevine is that they could release a netbook as early as this month and certainly before Christmas.

Insiders suggest that it will be Inventec that will be manufacturing up to 70000 units for the initial shipment this month. Not only that but Google has 2 other big players lined up to release the Google Chrome OS on its new netbooks by the end of the year. Who are these players?, none other than Acer and HP. They should definately help to put some serious weight behind google's latest offering.

Google Chrome OS is Google's open source, Linux-based operating system which was designed by Google to work exclusively with web applications. The operating system will not be available to download, rather, the operating system will only ship on specific hardware from Google's manufacturing partners.

Google has said that speed is the key to the operating system and therefore the only application on a device will be a browser incorporating a media player. It was designed primary for users who spent most of their computer time on the interent.
